Shane has a vast knowledge of Durango area residential properties, including vacation and second homes, ranch and land properties. He has achieved the designations of Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) , Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS), and E-Pro - specializing in working with buyers and sellers over the internet. Shane continuously seeks to gain knowledge through education and business development training.
Originally from Chicago, Shane attended Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business/Resort Management.
Shane has had the opportunity to live in and enjoy a wide range of experiences in the Southwest, including stays in Scottsdale and Flagstaff, AZ and the vast expanses of SW Texas where he managed resort operations and worked on development projects for the National Park Service and Forever Resorts. He also has a background in finance and lending, which is very helpful information that he shares with Buyer's, particularly in today's complex market.
Following his time in Business & Property Management, Shane continued down the development path by working on numerous land and ranch development projects and large acreage ranch sales at a local wholesale ranch development company. A few years later, he joined the team at the boutique firm, Horizon Properties of Durango, where he continues to help Buyer's and Seller's with their real estate endeavors.
Shane is very interested in the Durango community and keeps his finger on its pulse, staying on top of new area developments, future planning initiatives and community programs.
Heather Dawson, Real Estate Assistant, Vacation Rental Manager
Heather specializes in working with Buyers moving to the Durango area and finding just the right home for them. She enjoys the variety the real estate business has to offer, as it compliments her extensive business and legal background while giving her a creative outlet in the development of databases, marketing tools, and advertisements.
Heather grew up in Michigan, where she graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor's degree in Paralegal studies. She worked as a paralegal in Grand Rapids, MI and Green Bay, WI for nearly 13 years, where she specialized in mergers & acquisitions, real estate transactions, drafting contracts, general corporate matters and intellectual property law.
Heather also owns and operates Four Seasons Vacations Rentals where she pairs homeowners and qualified vacation renters with properties on a short-term basis.
Outdoor Adventure and Travel
Shane and Heather have a wonderful son, Kelley, with whom they enjoy exploring this unique community - whether it's hiking Engineer Mountain, mountain biking the Jones Creek trail, backpacking to Crater Lake, or rafting on the Animas River. They are also avid scuba divers with recent underwater trips to Panama, Bonaire and Roatan, Honduras and can't wait until Kelley is old enough to join them on their underwater adventures!
